Project Information
This level was created during my second year, second semester Level Design class at Sheridan College. I was tasked with the challenge of creating a 3v3 Capture the Flag map based off a fictional world of our choice. The level was created solely by me over the course of 4 weeks. I used Unreal Editor for Fortnite to construct the map

What I learned
This was the first time using UEFN, as well as creating a full fledged Level Design Document to accompany the level. My main focus was on creating a sense of granduer as well as encapsulating the medieval siege feel throughout the Fort Periloth base.
I started by using UEFN to construct a basic greybox level based off of my rough draft of the map of the level. Throughout the course of the project, I slowly implemented assets and made changes to the level architecture when needed. I made sure to pay attention to the flow of gameplay as well as tester feedback in order to ensure the level was large, but not to the point of being untraversable.
I used the LDD along with diagrams made in Miro to ensure that I was always following the vision for the project and not being led astray by ambition. Looking back, I definitely could have made more use of lighting and shaders to give emphasis to the interior of the castle, but this is something I will remember for next time. Overall it was a great learning experience and one that has even further fuelled my passion for fantasy and Level Design.
